The
bus winds around some back streets and then emerges onto Oxford
Road, stopping in front of the BBC. It continues past Manchester
Metropolitan University, the University of Manchester, the hospitals,
and the Whitworth Art Gallery. Get off when it turns left onto
Hathersage Road; the stop is in front of St Mary's Eye Hospital.
Walk back about 200 metres to Oxford Road, turn left and walk
another 150 metres to the next street, and then turn left again.
The signs read 'Rusholme Place, leading to Oxford Place'. Hulme
Hall is about 150 metres further along, just past the turning
into Oxney Road (on the right).
From
Manchester Oxford Road train station:
Taxis
take less than 10 minutes (longer in rush hour); the fare will
be about £5.
To
take the bus, leave the station and walk down the short approach
road to Oxford Road. Cross to the bus stop on the other side.
Most buses will go all the way down Oxford Road (ask for the
hospitals). You will pass Manchester Metropolitan University,
the University of Manchester, and the hospitals; when you see
the Whitworth Art Gallery in a small park on your right, get
off at the next stop, in front of the Tesco Express and Lidl.
Walk a little further in the same direction and turn left at
the first street. The signs read 'Rusholme Place, leading to
Oxford Place'. Hulme Hall is about 150 metres further along,
just past the turning into Oxney Road (on the right).
From Manchester Victoria train station:
Taxis
take about 15 minutes (longer in rush hour); the fare will be
about £9.
By
public transport, it is probably simplest to take the Metrolink
tram (from inside the station, in the direction of Altrincham)
to Manchester Piccadilly station and then to follow the directions
above. Alternatively get off at Piccadilly Gardens (the main
bus interchange) and take a bus down Oxford Road, e.g. the 40,
42 or 44. The tram fare is 60p.
