British Sociological Association

Sociology of Religion Study Group

7th Post-graduate Conference

Friday, 30th January -Saturday 31st January, 2004

Burwalls, University of Bristol

This year, we have two fascinating speakers for the conference and hope we will get plenty of support from postgraduates over the U.K. who are researching in the sociology of religion. Dr. Brenda Brasher, lecturing in sociology at the University of Aberdeen, is from the U.S.A. and has published Give me that online Religion (paperback from Rutgers in 2003). Her contribution is entitled: 'Researching Religion Online & Otherwise: An Insider Assessment of Research Issues and Methods in Sociology of Religion'. Paul Chambers, a Research Fellow with the Centre for Civil Society Studies, University of Glamorgan, has published widely on religion in Wales. He will speak on his experiences researching religion, secularisation and social change in Wales with special reference to Swansea.

There will be plenty of scope for discussion, workshops and lots of support for your research. The Group pay half of your accommodation costs and you pay the other half -£33.00 and that covers excellent food etc. Unfortunately, we have no funds to pay for travel of postgraduates coming. Booking forms etc. will be available in the first week in November 2003.
