Welcome!
As Postgraduate Liaison Officer for the Study
Group, I would like to welcome you to our web page. Here you will find
lots of information relevant to postgraduates including:
Details
on how to join our PG mailing list, where you will be updated
on matters relevant to postgraduates and will also receive regular
bulletins on relevant jobs. If you decide to join, please send the
mailing list an e-mail about yourself - what your research interests
are and where you are studying.
Information on any postgraduate competitions and
events that may be of interest.
Preparing
for your viva - some advice from PG mailing list members
Last
year a postgraduate event, on methodological challenges in doctoral
research on religion, took place in Oxford, a report on this event can
be found here. Detail
on past
postgraduate conferences can be found here.
I am currently seeking your ideas on topics you
would like covered at the postgraduate event taking place before the
2012 Annual SocRel conference in Chester. Current suggestions include
the relationship of theory to empirical methodologies, as well as
practical skills like speaking to the media and chairing panels at
conferences. Please do email me with your thoughts and ideas as this
event is run for your benefit.
Please also note that the 2012 Peter B. Clarke
Memorial Prize (formerly the Taylor and Francis Postgraduate Essay
Competition) has now been launched.
More information can be found here.
The Study Group is tremendously supportive of the
postgraduate community, and postgraduates are encouraged to participate
in all our events (study days and our general conference).
If you have any queries or would like to see something added to the
site, please do not hesitate to contact me at m.francis@gold.ac.uk.
